Adult Science Fiction and Fantasy, with Naomi Davis

March 2nd, 2021 - March 31st, 2021

with Brooke McIntyre

Group started

Preparing your work for submission? In this intimate workshop, you'll receive market and editorial feedback on the first 3,750 words (15 pages) of your adult SFF manuscript from literary agent Naomi Davis of BookEnds Literary Agency, and a small group of writers.

How it works

You'll submit your opening pages at the group start, then spend the next weeks critiquing peer stories. Naomi Davis will submit her notes near the critique deadline. After critiques are complete, we will have a debrief call where each writer gets individual time with Naomi to ask questions and brainstorm next steps for their manuscript.

The group workshop format accelerates learning because, not only will you receive feedback on your own work, you will also be able to see and hear Naomi's feedback on the group's stories, which you will have read and critiqued.

Each agent and editor event we offer also comes with a submission opportunity.

Participants should be sure they have at least 1 hour to give for critiquing each person's manuscript (plus reading time). Because this is a group of 7, this means you should have at least 6 hours available for your peers' stories.

Naomi Davis and Inked Voices are pleased to make a spot available, free of charge, to a writer from a diverse background. Apply by 2/10 (it takes less than 5 min!) https://inkedvoices.typeform.com/to/Uoh4s6oQ

About Brooke McIntyre

Authors have always been Naomi Davis's superheroes. Growing up in Minnesota, she spent her elementary years pretending she was every character in every book she read. Now a mother, gardener, and beekeeper, Naomi loves meeting readers everywhere she goes and finding out what makes them love the books that sweep them away. A life-long writer and author-fanatic, she has a mild to moderate obsession with slippers, and sings in two philharmonic choirs.

Naomi has a passion for helping authors develop stakes, voice immersion, and tension to a story's highest possible potential, and often tweets about strategies for accomplishing those goals on her Twitter @NaomisLitPix

Naomi seeks dynamic, character-driven adult and young adult titles in fantasy, sci-fi, and romance. LGBTQ+ elements and diversity in all fiction are a particular plus. Naomi is particularly passionate about finding new fantasy and sci-fi settings with unique magical structures that surprise the reader and change the rules readers associate with those worlds. Naomi is nonbinary and happy with either pronoun, she/her or they/them.
