Adult Fiction First Pages, with Leslie Zampetti

April 29th, 2021 - May 22nd, 2021

with Leslie Zampetti

Group started

Preparing your work for submission? In this intimate workshop, you'll receive market and editorial feedback on the first 3,750 words (15 pages) of your adult fiction manuscript from literary agent Leslie Zampetti of Dunham Literary, Inc., and a small group of writers.

How it works

You'll submit your opening pages at the group start, then spend the next weeks critiquing peer stories. Leslie Zampetti will submit her notes near the critique deadline. After critiques are complete, we will have a debrief call where each writer gets individual time with Leslie to ask questions and brainstorm next steps for their manuscript.

The group workshop format accelerates learning because, not only will you receive feedback on your own work, you will also be able to see and hear Leslie's feedback on the group's stories, which you will have read and critiqued.

Each agent and editor event we offer also comes with a submission opportunity.

Participants should be sure they have at least 1 hour to give for critiquing each person's manuscript (plus reading time). Because this is a group of 7, this means you should have at least 6 hours available for your peers' stories.

Leslie Zampetti and Inked Voices are pleased to offer a spot, free of charge, to a writer from a diverse background. Apply by 4/1: https://inkedvoices.typeform.com/to/XNL0AOYJ

About Leslie Zampetti

Leslie joined Dunham Literary in June 2016. Previously, she was an intern for The Bent Agency.

A former librarian with over 20 years’ experience in special, public, and school libraries, Leslie has cataloged rocket launch videos and Lego rocket ship models, presented SEC documents and story times, and negotiated with organizations from Lexis-Nexis to the PTA. Her experience as a librarian has given her a distinct perspective on publishing and readers. A writer herself, Leslie is very familiar with querying from both sides of the desk.

What She’s Seeking:

For adult fiction, Leslie is interested in literary mysteries, upmarket romance and women’s fiction, and historical fiction from lesser-known eras and places. Mysteries that layer character explorations with investigation – think Donna Leon, Abir Mukherjee, or Katayoun Medhat.
In romance, Leslie would love a Regency romance set in other parts of the British Empire. MOLOKA’I and THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS are favorites of Leslie’s in historical fiction. For all works, Leslie is seeking under-represented main characters and diverse voices.
