Picture Books, Revise and Resubmit Workshop, with Jennie Dunham

September 6th, 2019 - December 10th, 2019

with Brooke McIntyre

Group started

**Admission to this group is limited to Inked Voices members who expressed interest by August 6th, 11:59pm. I have drawn names and I'm currently working through the list and getting folks registered.**

In this workshop, picture book writers will work with literary agent Jennie Dunham and a curated group of peers to revise a manuscript, getting it towards submission-ready. At the start of the group, writers will submit their manuscript. Fiction submissions should be 750 words or less; nonfiction should be 1200 words or less. If your manuscript is at the higher end of this range, please be aware that Jennie will coach you to cut your manuscript down to 600 words or less by the end of the workshop. Writers will peer critique the first submissions, and receive feedback from Jennie. Then, we will hold a debrief call where writers can ask questions and brainstorm with Jennie, in preparation for revising.

After this first round, writers will be given a span of time for revising the work. Writers are encouraged to reach out to the workshop group for support and questions as they dig into revisions, and Jennie will be available for revision questions as well.

Writers will then submit their revision for another round of feedback from their peers and Jennie.

The workshop does allow significant time for revision and critique, but this time tends to pass quickly, especially as fall kickstarts! So, please be mindful of your schedule when considering this group. There will be 9 writers, which means 8 manuscripts for peer critique. Take a particular look at the revision period to make sure you'll be able to allocate the needed time in your schedule.

Jennie Dunham and Inked Voices are delighted to make a spot available, free of charge, to a writer from a diverse background. Apply by August 18th. https://inkedvoices.typeform.com/to/jOR7CV
